Performance
- Phones receive a fraction of the data they used to. Chat events are compacted before they cross the wire, heavy PR detail is fetched on demand instead of pre-synced to every device, compressed sync frames ship as binary, and streamed replies are folded before replay — reopening a long thread transfers up to 79% less.
- The iOS app responds instantly. Your message appears the moment you tap send (images too), scrolling up through history no longer jumps, and streaming replies render up to 39× faster with smarter caching.
- Desktop threads scroll smoothly. Older history loads before you reach the top, the view no longer shifts while pages load, and each page carries real content.
- Less background churn. Fewer git processes per refresh, GitHub requests back off properly when rate-limited, never-pushed branches skip the API entirely, and the local database stays smaller with paced cleanup.
- A crashed window recovers itself. If the app window dies, it reloads in about a second instead of staying white.
Chat
- File edits no longer clutter the thread. While an agent edits, the status line reads “Editing…”; when the turn ends you get one collapsed summary of changed files with lane-relative paths and Undo.
- File names in chat are real links. Click one to open it in the Files tab, in the right lane, at the right line.
- Mention chats, PRs, and more with tags, browse your prompt history, and see PR details in a dedicated pane.
- Usage tracking got an upgrade, and pasted images are compressed instead of rejected.
Agents
- Pi joins Claude, Codex, Cursor, Droid, and OpenCode as a first-class agent.
- You can see when agents are still working. Sessions with live background work show as working or monitoring everywhere — the Work list, the top bar, the dock badge, and your phone.
- Settling a chat now stops its work. Monitors, background shells, and subagent fleets shut down when you settle; open terminals stay. If something can’t be stopped, the row says so instead of hiding it. Starting a new turn always wins over a settle in progress.
- Parent chats hear back from their subagents reliably, including turns started by scheduled work.
iOS
- Pairing tells you the truth. If a saved key can’t be read, the app says so and offers Repair instead of pretending you never paired.
